yup
honey locoust is more red in the heart. Osage is bright neon-like yellow when split and stays like that. B locust seens to turn more tan as it dries

Thanks. I am pretty sure I am dealing with black locust vs. honey. Its uniformly yellow through to the heart. Pretty stringy too. The telephone co. guys had to cut some of this stuff down last winter after a storm, and they called it black locust, just wasn't sure of the distinction. I imagine whether its honey or black, its still good burnin!!

Begley is my mothers maiden name BTW.
