Crankcase sealants

Rebuilding my Echo CS360t finally found it had a leak on crankcase. What is good option for crankcase sealant. I have permatex copper which actually looks similar to what was used. Thanks for input.

I'm assuming you are using a new gasket? I use motoseal, available at most parts stores. Any sealant that is gasoline and oil resistant will work.

motoseal seems to work fine and easy to get.
silicone sealants soften with gasoline exposure.

You definitely want to use a sealer designed for mated case halves. Any motorcycle shop will have it.

Stihl uses Dirko HT. You need to know if the sealant is required for gap filling as in clamshells or not. Motoseal is not rated for gap filling whereas Dirko and Yamabond are.

Dirko ht for the most part. If I'm coating a gasket or shim I use loctite 515.

I'm running permatex ultra copper on a couple saws with base gasket deletes and it works good, I haven't had any issues and it's been on my Tanaka 5601 for two years.

I use Dirko on saws, though never for case halves, I’d probably advise against it for a case sealant because there won’t be enough working time unless you are speedy with a set of @Mattyo s crank tools, then you should be ok!

They may. I have seen a few of their rtv sealants, but rtv won't stand up to gasoline.
