Figured I’d get a quicker response here. I picked up an Echo CS620P yesterday and requested a 20” and 24” bar. They didn’t have the 24”, then found one that had been sitting for some time and said they would include it. Dealer said it fit, but when I got home I noticed there seemed to be more play in the bar than I’m used to seeing as the nose of the bar went up significant higher when pulling up to tension the chain.
I didn’t have time to look further last night, but just measured and sure enough the bar mount is different. As best I can tell the bar they sold me is a D196 mount and it looks like echo 620p uses a D176 mount.

I’m planning to call the dealer when they open, but just so I know is it even safe to run this bar on this saw?

Yes you can use that bar as long as you use some 5/16 to 3/8 spacers on the bar studs. As you see the tail is the exact same size and the oil hole is in the same location.

You can go to your local hardware store and buy a extension spring that measures 5/16 ID and 3/8 OD for like a buck, then just clip a few coils off about the width of you bar and slide them on your bar studs.

Thank you for the suggestion! I ran to two different hardware stores and got a spring I thought might work, but struck out. I'll have to call the dealer back and see if they will take the bar back and order the correct bar.

Called the dealer. I wasn't able to get back there today, but will try and get up there later this week. They ordered an Echo 24" bar for me and they also gave me an 18" instead of a 20" bar so they are going to swap that for me too.
Had surprise storms all afternoon today and I got held up in meetings so that took the sting off of not being able to try out my new saw. I'm working all day tomorrow and Friday morning so I'll have to get out Friday evening or Saturday to fire it up.
