Decompression valve stuck closed

I just got a used 257 husky that runs great but the decomp is stuck.I don't need it to work,but was wondering what causes this and how would I fix it? I have never messed with one.

I've never really handled a Husky decomp, but they've got to be simple devices like on Stihl. They can get clogge with soot or dirt or the spring mechanism inside could have failed. It can't be that hard to replace.

I guess I was thinking it was stuck open. If it won't open, then pull it out, with a wrench, and clean it.

Come to think of it, maybe it is stuck open and just clogged up. Try pulling out on it and see if it moves.

13mm deep socket.

If you dont care about the decompressor,you can replace it with a plug # 5035 522 01 from Husky or get a used on from a cylinder.

SXL-923 and VI-123 ?

The VI-123 is brand new without one. Maybe there is an aftermarket part that fit's 'em?
