I haven't checked the 066 BB piston.
I didn't know it was a 56mm
If anyone has one out of a saw that we
can measure it would be great.

The Hi Performance air filter is a K and N brand
and i have been on there site and no luck with the measurements. It might be discontinued. I was going
to give them a call but just been to busy lately.
There is no part number on any of the ones i have.

Tom if you find any 166 parts from the dealers
that you don't want i might be interested. I'm always
looking to buy any thing related to the 166.

many thanks excess....
Stock piston I have here comes in a 50mm / 1.968" crown to base on port to port.....
14mm /.59 " gudgeon
25mm / .984" center to crown
18 mm top of pin to crown

Does the 166 transfers breathe through the piston or have transfers right to the case like a bike motor?

Just had assembled for storage will take the jug off and post some pics ( have appoint ,so maybe tomorrow !)...pretty sure it breaths through

Anyway, a friend needs a piston so if you find a source or need to go in on a bunch PM me.

Will keep in mind....worth checking the bike ones out first....
which are usually longer and easier for a cut down.......
seem to be stuck on getting measurements for top of pin to
crown.

I would assume that the k & n takes a special cover or adapter and the IPL I have only shows the square filter. I will settle for that if I can not find the other. If any one has a source on one please let me know. Thanks Tom

Hey Tom,
Can't say knows much on the filter you require as mine are the square type....but believe yours are a K&N
http://knfilters.com.au/
.....not sure of size and part number you need .....hopefully one of the guys here will know.

Many thanks excess,
although i don't think the 066BB is
going to work.
12mm pin and the center to crown is to short.

When i was searching the bike pistons the
center to crown was much longer and not enough
to take off the top. So far the Husky 394 is what i have found the closest. Just have to make the pin bore from
13mm to 14mm and add a shim under the cylinder
depending on what squish you want. But somewhere around .062 will work with a gasket.

I'm going to call Wiseco this week and get a current quote
and see what a batch will cost. i may spend the dough and have them made and sell off what i can.

JJ here on the site also mentioned useing the 13mm pin in the 394 piston but get a different wrist pin bearing to fit.
I have found a bearing company here in Boston that i have got to call to see if they can match something.

Just hard to do all this and work everyday.

Tom, You are correct. The Hi Performance filter uses
a different cylinder cover and it's not in my IPL's as well.
If you have the regular filter setup and just need the filter,
Check item number 350197887548 on ebay. is your filter held in with 2 screws?

If you need pic's let me know, I have i think all variations.

This guy did not ride in on the last turnip truck.
I have done several searches for 166 saws and this guy never showed up before.
That is the filter I need, but I was hoping to get it for less. O well it is only money and you never saw a Wells Fargo truck folloring a hearse to the cemetery.
The IPL I have list the part number as;166 173 022 (nylon) and 166 173 102 (robkoflok). I have the second. It has the flocking material on it like some of the Stihl saws.
If you have an extra one that you are willing to sell send me a price shipped to zip 38828. Thanks Tom

P S I looked at it closer and it looks like the one I need, but it has ther wrong part #.

Tom, unfortunately i don't have any spares to sell.
i only have one which i'm going to keep at this time.
I prefer the nylon they are easier to clean and i think
they breath better.
I have bought from that seller a few times. Send him an
email and a offer for the filter. You never know you could get it for less.

I may do that if my call do not turn up something. Thanks Tom

Well, I made a call to Wiseco today and
spoke with a nice guy. They can make the
166 pistons. Minimum order is 24 at 140.00 to 145.00
per piston. If i can come up with enough dough
i might do it sometime this or next month.
If i wanted 50 pistons it would cut the cost to around 110.00 per piston.

Lee - Are you sold on Wiseco ? Good pistons ,smaller runs with Arias.......dollars ! ???
Would it be worth taking a poll ,for whose interested ,on AS ,CC and RS ?

- Graeme

I did speak to Aries a few weeks ago and was told they can't do 2 stroke pistons with windows like the 166 and many other saws.
So i think it's going to be Wiseco unless i can get intouch with another company.

Lee

Lee - re Arias .....said they don't normally do 2 stroke but have done them and to let her know.Sending PM copy of email and person i dealt with.
BUT IF END UP GOING WISECO -FINE..JUST THOUGHT DOLLARS EASIER SMALLER RUN !

ALSO - Just to add another twist :)
Just got off the phone to KolbeSchmit rep AU ...has located lots of obsolete NOS......but here's the catch ,needs the KS part number.
Gave the Dolmar part numbers for piston assl and cyl piston assl.....only the last 3 where applicable for KS
eg, Dolmar
Model / Description # / Product series / Description
166 132 100 piston assl

Dolmars Product series number is KS Description number.
Said they will try to get clarity, no guarantee.....or whether the stock fits our needs.....
until the numbers can be cross matched....am sending off an E to Dolmar.

I had also contacted Golf, Meteor, and Tecomec piston companies and ask about the Dolmar 166 through email and there replies were " We do not have a piston kit for the 166 Dolmar and no plans in the future for them"

Believe me i don't really want to spend $140.00 per
piston kit either, But if Wiseco is the only company out that is willing to make them then what are we suppose to do.

If i do have them made, I know i'm going to end up with more than i need but i'm sure there are a few that will spend the money for a quality piston.
