Elm, yes but is it Red?

@svk I guess I will play with that when I have time. Good that there are folks like you that can take a closer look at those pics and give us a good report on what you see.

A few more pics from the same Elm:

It kinda looks more like red elm in those pictures, that split piece ain't very string though unless it's a real small one. Bark still looks thick to me too.

Most of the pictures are not elm but what it is who knows.
Growing in the city or in a forest?

To me a few pictures look like different species.
Was this more than 1 tree?
In the 3 pictures #1 elm something and looks like American elm, the other 2?

From 30+ acres of ravine land. All I'm allowed to cut is dead or dying trees so 95% of what I cut is Elm. Other stuff in the area is box elder, maple, butternut, black cherry, coffeetree, hickory, cottonwood, and just 1/4mile down the road a bunch of white oak. If it's not elm what could it be?
