this is what you dont want to see
this is a very drastic picture
that was new psiton cylinder rings
cold look similar but not as deep
if its not through the chrome on the cylinder it can be repaired

It would take me 20 min to dig up scored vs non scored pistons. I bet Brad has 'em at hs finger tips.........

Does your dad know that there are limiter caps in the H L on the 361's carb?

thanks for the good news. I told him tomorrow that we'd together, take the carb apart and clean it and run it hot. He said that he did run it hot and then it quit again. He said it ran hard for a couple of minutes then died. I know he did'nt straight gas it. He knows better than that.

I guess if the cleaning dont work then I can check the piston.

Sorry but that doesn't sound very good at all. There's more to it.

This is the piston in the 029 I just worked on....it is useable with some dirt ingestion which smoothed it out some:

There is still time for it to get better....wait till that cousin shows up with his new wife/girlfriend that curses like a Jersey cab driver & stays drunk the whole Chirstmas visit, then borrows money from you before he leaves.......
