36" Oregon reduced weight for most use, Cannon when the wood is shattered or on fire. Cannon for most bars, the rails are very hard and durable. Oregon Pro-Lite for the small saws. Sthil hardnose when the conditions are abrasive. Sthil ES is also good and cheap, own a few.

I have one GB hardnose that is a twisted POS. Anyone need a 50" 058 hardnose that will fit an 088/090?

If you had been here helping me get them hung up you would have thought they were clydesdales!!!
It was all the butchering I wanted to do today anyway.

Ely's a pretty long crawl from Cuyuna.

Not saying how long ago this was, but I had a few drinks in Cuyuna now and then when I was living in Crosby. In fact I walked home from there once...or so I'm told. Funny how I don't recall...

By what criterias are we measuring these bars? Longevity, speed, durability, or other?

Just curious, I haven't had what I'd call issues with any bars, though a Carlton I ran yesterday really ran well, and I thought it was the chain.

Cannon is the best, but a tad heavy. I have a few Oregon's for the intermediate. I also have a 33" reduced weight oregon.

The cheap ones. :D I picked up a 25" Stihl ES for 10$.

Moparman, you are makin me hungry, hope to get in the stand this week. Puttin all saw projects aside.

My favorite bar is the 'vintage' late-1960's induction hardened 21" hard nose Oregon (called "Lectron" or something similar) that's on my 'workhorse' C5. Balances perfectly on that heavy saw and never seems to show any wear whatsoever. It wears loops of Baileys and Oregon semi-chisel and round-chisel .404" chain.

Since I mostly run ancient saws I use 'vintage' Homelite, Cannon, and Oregon bars. As far as the new stuff goes, I mostly run the Carlton replaceable sprocket nose bars that Baileys sells. I've gotten lucky and picked them up dirt cheap on clearance from time to time for my 031 and SXL/AO saws.

For me, the Oregon Power Match and Windsor Speed Tip bars are good middle of the road bars for quality and price.

Mike! For a minute there, I thought you might have been up here in Ohio, rabbit hunting! :hmm3grin2orange: Just pullin your leg Friend.

Ive passed up a number of deer so far in the bow season, waiting for Mr. BIG,lol When the gun season comes, my aspirations come back down to earth!

Way to go with the fine venison!

Been there, done that myself, and I live on the Ironton side of things

Calvin, I just like the ones I can get on a deal. But have no problem paying for quality.

Anybody know who makes Echos big bars, picked up a 36" the other day?
