Of course it all seems simple to YOU.
your from "joisey" , where everybody is smarter than einstien , able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, and perfect in every way ,etc.
and if you dont think so just ask somebody from "joisey" and they will tell you how human kind breeds so much more superior there.

Ron, seriously why so angry? You still mad at us for beating your Patriots in the Superbowl.

I really like my 6000i. It is just a good 60 cc saw. Plenty of umpf for the job.

w8ye,

wow that saw has one of them complicated "switch" things on it. Man can you get a IPL or a Service manual to find out how to operate that switch? We need one with crayola pictures and big letters for our friends from NH ? :jester:

Best thing to do is just not worry about it and whenever ya see one ya want just plan on it being a little heavier than rated, or ask someine on here what they would actually weigh.

That's such an easy solution though and I really enjoy making things as complicated as possible. :msp_rolleyes:

Isn't everyone happy when the Patriots lose?

NO! The jets or Dolphins yes.
Nice work and Nice saws Mark. I have 4 Dolmar saws and 1 weedwacker. I use my PS540 a lot they are very good saws. Ny poor cousin used his bloated 290FB all day while we were cutting an oak then he grabbed my 540.

If that's always the case and weight is one of the prime considerations for both use and bragging rights, I'm surprised that no one has started a community master chart that lists the actual weight of every saw. I'm not suggesting that we go the the barn and weight our used saws on fish scales but every time a member pulls a new saw out of the box they could weigh the powerhead on a digital scale. That info would then be added to the master list so that we could, over time, compile some fairly accurate data. I think it would be helpful to the community and it would be great to keep these manufactures honest, so to speak.

That stated, I'm baffled that manufacturers don't, on their own accord, take pride in listing true weights for each model and variation. If I was a manufacturer or head of marketing, I would not only accurately list the weight of my own saws but I'd exploit the lies that my competition listed as truth. I realize that this is probably a worn out subject but it sure would be neat to see a marketing team step up to the plate of authenticity on this particular specification.

Perhaps I'll start the powerhead actual weight list thread, starting with the 7900

Dolmar 7900 (heated handle)
Listed weight: 13.6lbs True weight: 14.9lbs

So much for it being the "same weight as a 372 but with more power" as we've all seen mentioned here a hundred times.

I have about 20 saws I have cleaned and weighed.....and the 7900 is about 6 ounces heavier than a 372, but will put a serios spanking on it, stock.

BTW, Mark, I have several 7900's (non-heated) and they all weigh right at 14lbs 10oz.

Ok, thanks! At only 6 ounces heavier, I'll grant that as essentially the same weight. I would love to own the 7900 but just can't justify the need yet as a 372 owner. The Dolmar looks like a beautiful saw though!

The heated handles will normally add about .4lbs on a saw that size, but Dolmar doesn't tell that in the specs.....

Good info, thanks. I have no experience with them down here in AZ. Is it just a heating coil or wire than runs through the handle connected to a control box or is it some kind of conduction system?

Sounds like you guys are pretty much on the mark.

Now that is interesting.

re the 'original'64/73/7900 weight you'll probably find they weighed a 6400 (slightly lighter than the other two saws) early production (didn't have the overtravel limiter, etc) European single small spike (or no spike) no decomp, etc version.

The HD filter would add some extra grams over the stock setup too (and when are you fella's going to start using real measurements like grams and metre's ? :p)

Ron, your loseing it. Thats not my saw! I just work on it for a friend. Notice the new shiney white rear handle on it and thats why I got the chance to weigh it while I knew it was all cleaned up and empty!

I'm still trying to figure out what buttered scones are though? Is that any thing like corned beef hash?

I do like your switch on the Dolly though, got me thinking of putting one on the 7900 like that. LOL
