Which is better?

Green= Longer burn but is that because its drying out?

Seasoned--More "useable BTU's" ?

I dunno anyone have Facts?

Green wood = cresote buildup and dripping in a wood stove. The greener the wood = faster buildup.

There are some cities which do not allow burning wood which has a moisture content greater than (left up to the city). In some locations it is against the law to sell firewood with a moisture content greater than (left up to the city).

I've burned green wood in the past and ended up with a gummy buildup in the flue and underside of the raincap.

with forced air green wood will burn but even if you have to buy it dry wood will put you ahead untill what you cut is seasoned. There is no advantage to burning green wood. some woods are lower in moisture when green than others.less dense wood generally seasons faster than denser wood.dry dense hardwood will give you the best burn times for the colder months and softer less dense wood will dry faster and give reasonable burn time in milder weather. hope this helps
