on an ms290 is it better to drill a holes in the indent so its straight through or at the bottom so it has to go through the muffler guts? make sense?

Murph, I have a technical question... Is there a formula or equation you use when opening these up? And how would you know if you went too far? Or is there such a thing?

Drill that thing out like Murph's picture, adjust the carb and stand back. Those holes will wake that saw up. I did mine and was very impressed.

Wow, I was scared to use a the older 029 silver muffler on my 029Super because older one has two extra holes from factory. I guess I'll still need to drill a few more on it when it comes time to mod.
Thread title sure gets people in to read.
