How can I tell if it's a 346xp

I was going though my saw colletion and desided to replace the plastic intake clamps with the metal ones on a few 359's
and two 353's. When I pulled the last saw apart I looked at the serial # and the tag says 346xp, but the starter and top cover say 353. ---All these saw were junk from ebay or craigs list. If I remember correctly this saw was missing the tank
but otherwise was complete. ---
How would one tell a 353 from a 346xp?

That's a 353. The 346 feeds the transfers from the bottom of the cylinder.

346 doesn't have removeable transfer covers either.

...and 353's have 45 stamped in blue on the top fin. The 45cc 346 has a 42 stamped on it and the 50cc doesn't have any stampings on the top fin.

Likely, the saw has been assambled of parts from two saws before you got it - the case from an OE (45cc) 346xp, and the top end and covers from a 353.
