How do you do pest control in your wood piles?

What could be spayed to keep insects away from firewood that wouldn't be harmful to people burning wood?
Prop glycol [safe pink "rv antifreeze"] heated with water and disolve boric acid or Borax. PG is a natural fungicide and Boric acid / Borax an insecticide. Or if you have a pile of firewood that is still green with a lot of moisture, I use an old parmesan jar [with the holes in the lid] and sprinkle/shake Borax [20 mule team] on my wood slabs as a prep for air drying.
