How often do you turn the bar over

When I take the bar off to clean the groove, file burrs, or when the chain gets swapped out for a new one. Certainly not every sharpening.

not nearly often enough probably. it still cuts straight and its not lugging, its fine shut it and run it. :hmm3grin2orange:

My problem is, I give the chain a few strokes with file and go back to cutting.
Unless I rock the chain it stays on for some time but I do flip bar
when I remove chain. At one time I tried to rotate chains but that
didn't last very long.

Usually when the hole for the oiler gets clogged or there is obvious wear on the bottom of the bar. Generally more often on my bucking saw. My limbing saw gets more even use of the top and bottom.

every time I remove the bar for any reason. this isn't a very even approach but it seems to work for me. Every time you sharpen the chain seems excessive in my opinion

I never turn the bar over. I just cut with the saw upside down every other day.

from the sounds of the many "burnt up bar" threads.. more people need to focus on CLEANING out their bar rails and oil holes than anythign else
