Been trying to figure track down a decent aftermarket clutch for my 61. Ordered a Hyway and the thread pattern is not the same and will not work. Seems that the crank has coarse threads and new clutch had fine threads. Any idea what I need to order?

Yep you have an older saw........the early versions of this family, both Huskys and Jonsereds have a coarse thread crankshaft on the clutch side. These can be identified by there being only a very small hole in the clutch nut as opposed to the later fine tread clutches that are tapped all the way through. Unfortunately for you there is one clutch and only one clutch that will fit. The fine thread clutches come in 2-3 different styles depending on the size of the saw and year and are interchangeable. When searching for a coarse thread clutch look closely at the clutch nut......clutches with a lot of hours develop cracks in this nut........make sure you get one that isn't cracked. I haven't seen any aftermarket coarse thread clutches but that doesn't mean that there may not be someone making them. Good luck....

From: https://www.wolfcreeksawshop.com/pr...ing-kit-for-husqvarna-61-268-268xp-272-272xp/

"Brand new Oregon/Hyway clutch kit, fits Husqvarna chainsaw models 268 268xp 272 272xp, (fits all these models after serial number 0510000). Fits Husqvarna chainsaw model 61 after serial number 0510572 with fine thread clutch."

So you need one listed that is for prior to serial 0510572.

That's not what he's looking for. That is just the clutch drum and rim drive. He needs the actual clutch that treads onto the crankshaft and goes inside that drum.

Take you coarse spider (the middle part) and put your shoes and spring, from the new one, on it.
That only works if you can actually get a new one that uses the same style of spring. I know I tried a while back before I acquired my current excess of parts saws and couldn't actually get one. Everything was new style with the C style springs.
