My dad has a big husky that will run with the choke on, but when switched off it dies.Carb shot? Its about 23 years old and this is its first season sitting on the sidelines:cry: I was out a couple days ago cutting 25" cherry with a 346 with a 20" bar. This saw wears a 30" and would have been much nicer.

check for air leaks, sounds like this might be your problem, pull off carb, check gaskets, make sure the bolts are tight for the carb and cylinder.

If it runs on choke, but dies thereafter it could be an air leak. I've had a few old saws that would bark and start to run on choke. I used to think that this was a good thing. It isn't, it's indicative of a probable air leak.

I'm fairly new to saws, but I know from years of working on 2-stroke dirt bikes that when she'll only run with the choke on that it's a classic symptom of an air leak. You better check it out before you melt the top-end. Matt
