Is it a 024 super or not

Bought a 024 AVS Wood Boss, thats whats on the top cover.
It was made in West Germany and the ser# dose start with a 1
it has only one bar nut. I pulled the jug off and tried to measure
the stroke with dial calipers:rolleyes: measured twice, both times
come up with a little over the 32mm stroke. Is their any other
way to tell a non-super from a super?
 
Yes... The rod - what number does it have stamped on it... and side chain adjuster...

PITA to measure the stroke, as I'm sure you've found!

It looks to be 1114.

Side chain adjuster? it's in the front.

Hmmm.... hard to know.. Plastic gets swapped out all the time. If you have an old 024 cylinder around, pop it on - if it hits the top, it's an 024 super - works...

I'm not so sure... but I though the 024 had either a flat stamped rod (old) or 1114 on it. If it has 1121, that was 026 or 024S...

Measuring the stroke is harder than it looks - I mis-measured a couple once before.. That's why I know a standard 024 pot gets hit by the piston. Killer compression though:)
 
I don't have another jug around, if I knew the depth of the jug,
from the deck to the top, would that tell me. This one is 2.460"
along the jug wall to the top of jug. I'm hope this jug will clean up
here is a pic. (Best guess on the pics)

I can check Monday - maybe someone else has an 024 or 024S to measure...

An 026 measurement might also give insight..

Crank bearings felt just a little ruff, pulled out the crank and bearings
got the bearings off the crank. I didn't beat up or break any thing :)
the crank rod bearing feels good. I think I can put new bearings in
its the clutch side seal I'm worried about, can it be done with out
the seal tools? any tricks, or am I pissing up a rope?

I have $35 in this saw, I'm doing it just to see if I can. If I can
it will be given to Dad for a saw to ride in the farm truck, for
a limb on the fence or what ever.
 
The O26 seals are dead easy - just set them with a socket...but DON'T go in too deep (clutch side is flush) or you'll rub the bearing.. and the seal will last a week or two max.. or maybe a few minutes.
 
I think so.. but stuff gets swapped around so much it's hard to tell. I've seen guys go both ways on the 024 - even putting single nuts studs on 2 stud saws, and vice versa.
 
OK I bought a 026 case with crank with 1121 on the rod, ser#223763105.
Just to see I put the 024 piston and jug on the 026 case W/O a gasket
I thought the piston would hit the top of the jug. (No it will not hit) I'm
I missing something, So I still don't know if the 024 is a super, or the
026 case I just bought is a 026 for sure :dizzy:
