I have stock 2186 with a 28" bar and would like to try a shorter bar Just for kicks, is a 24" a big enough difference from the 28" in a saw this size or should i go a 20", this is just for general firewood. I don't really need it i am just wanting to play around, i have a 359 i use for most of my cutting.

It is lots of fun to put an 8pin sprocket on the 385 with an 18 or 20" bar. No real point in a 24 from a 28 IMO. I would pick up an 8pin sprocket with anything shorter than 20

24" is really 25" so there's 3" of difference in actual length. 28" lightweight would be how I would spend the money on a new bar.

I'll give this a try with a good aggressive chain and watch it eat!
