Jonsered 2171 ring gap

Hello everyone I am working on a jonsered cs2171 and would like to know what the piston ring gap should be . It is a 2 ring piston . Thanks in advance for any advice .

Normal is no tighter than .005” per inch of bore. 2171 is about 2”, so .010” would be a great spot to start. I’d replace at .025”

Does that piston have locating pins for the ring ends?

Here is what a well worn ring out of one pulling 120psi compared to new rings.

You're a brave soul if you run 0.005 on any top ring in anything over 1.6" bore.

Not certain if you understood my post.

.005” per inch of bore minimum.

At 1.6” bore, the math says .008” minimum, not .005”
