Jonsered 630 Fuel Tank Vent 501629601 Question

Hi All, I'm back with another question on my Jonsered 630 Super II. Just finished installing new fuel line and filter, had a leak and that took care of it. I was cleaning the fuel tank vent with a fine wire when the vent came right out of the saw. I noticed it was threaded and when I tried to put it back in, it went in so far that fuel came around it, so I backed it out again. My question is, do I need to replace it or? How far should I be screwing it in? Also noticed a faint whine (like air escaping) coming from the fuel cap. Thanks in advance for any help!
