Got a little more; now the pile is deceptively small.

I have split a bunch and it's stacked on a rack I made. The stack on the rack is 32" deep (double width of 16") with other sizes mixed in (mesquite isn't all uniform).

When full, the rack will hold 2/3 cord.

and if it's a half ton it won't hold the weight of half a cord

Theres plent of crazies around here that put full cords on half tons. They pull up want a cord of wood and throw it on. I've seen bumpers and exhaust ripped off leavin the woodlot but they get it done.

Thanks for posting ...I always thought Mesquite was a small bush type tree that was used for smoking fish or meat...had no idea they got that big. Holy Cow!....you can really learn stuff here.
