Ok, I found a 028 super that I think is very clean, It's at a pawn
shop that I have traded guns and bought reloading supplies
for years. (I think they are very Honest) I ask today about
pull the muffler cover off to peek inside, she said ok, I will do
that tomorrow, My question is what should I look for. Or what
where problems areas of 028AV super. I think she will let me
take it and run it, but I won't ask that until I have cash
in hand to buy it.

hey,
That Is A Good Saw, If You Take The Muffler Off You Can See
The Piston And Cylinder Wall, Should Be Shinny And Smooth
On The Sides. Then Check The Compression By Pulling The Starter
Rope. Should Be Fairly Hard To Pull. Then Ask Her To Let You Start
It. How Much They Asking??

It's marked for $250, I know I can get for less but I don't
ever make a offer unless I have money in hand to backup
the offer

I got mine on ebay for $130. Your one may be a little cleaner, but just to give you some idea. Very clean in my opinion would have a top market value of $200.

Yes it maybe, but it is slick and I want a 028 super. I have seen a
few for $150 to $200 and not near as nice. and I think it is allot
more saw than I could get for a new $200 saw IMO. The thing is
I don't need it, I just want it. :) You know the chain saw BUG!
Casey said there is a pill for it, but won't tell me where to get it.

I agree. It's WAY high. You would have to start bickering at half that to make a deal that wouldn't totally suck. If it looked and ran like new, maybe $175, but it better be impressive at that. Like, "check the back room for the box" kind of new.

But I'm cheap.

I really don't want to buy one on e-bay, mite get a good one
or I mite get a piece of crap.

28 super is a great saw!!

$200 would be a good price. We get $300 for them in the store, and they last about 2 days.

Weak spot - choke/ control arm.. NO biggeee. Crappy filter... but live with it.

That's part of the fun!! Kind of like a pig in a poke.

Yes! Did I tell you I'm an avid poker player.

Seriously I guess your right. I plan to rebuild the saw anyhow.

The only thing that really matters is if it is worth it to you!

A saw that lasts two days is good? Wow! I'd hate to see your idea of a bad saw. :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

OK OK, what if I told you I can get it Free, No joke
I have done hourse trading on guns for years, some of
the best ways to make money on guns is to buy quality
rifles with quality scopes, hold on to them a few years
then take the scope off and sell them seprate. if you
do good you will have a free scope, and one of these free
scopes is a leupold VXIII 3.5x10 is what I will trade for
this saw and draw some boot. Thats how I got some
of these new saws, was by sell off a few old guns that
I had put away. A good gun in the safe is better than
money in the bank especially when interest rate is low.
Now you know my secret

What's different about the 028 Super vs the 028AV or 028WB? Acres' site doesn't list an 028 Super......

I just picked up an 028 super off ebay for about $248 including shipping. Those saws are going for any where from $200 to $300 right now on e-bay. Our local dealer told me that $150 was a fair price, but really a 260pro goes for [nearly] twice that. So, even if you spend $250 and then buy a piston/cylinder kit for it, you're still under the cost of a brand new one.

Look for the 028 Type 2. I'm assuming that is the super, but not sure.
