Hi there been thinking on making a wood splitter, and just want to get sum advice. Iam thinking of running a 5.5hp motor with a 11gpm Haldex Hydraulic Pump — 11 GPM, 2-Stage, Model# 1001689 | Pumps | Northern Tool + Equipment what do you guys think?

hi I used a 10hp &16gpm pump I got them at surplus center here is the item #'s (16gpm) 9-7503-16 $139.95 (10hp Tecumseh) 28-1741 $134 the motor has tapered shaft I just cut it off and used a dremal to cut a new keyway slot with a 5" cylinder it makes a true 28 ton. a 4" cylinder would be faster. hope this helps you
