depending on what you're cutting 20" 3/8 and skip might not be a bad call.

If you want full comp 20" in hardwood I would go the .325 route

Either way consider changing over to rim sprocket it's like a $24 upgrade and will give you flexibilty.
 
I use a 16'' on mine and it does great. With that said I dont think in any way shape or form would it would pull a 24'' bar burried in hardwood.
If you are going to be using a 24'' very frequently it would be best to get a 70cc class saw. For occasional use a 60cc class saw would do if you dont lean on it too hard and have the oiler adjusted to the max. Just my .002.
