Finally got it running. Sounds gnarly! But when I hold it full throttle it seems like it's surging. Just like it's full throttle and burbling and then someone is turning the kill switch on and off. I really don't know how it should be tuned. I'm hoping that's all it needs, but I don't know what exactly needs done. The carb is absolutely odd how it works.

Wondering if anyone has carb tuning for 33a,should be the same as 35a.Downloaded the 3 pages but its too small to read, tried to enlarge but it gets fuzzy as is my vision.A pdf or scan works. Thanks

Doesnt seem to be pumping,I renewed all parts in carb and pump diaphrams.Stays runnin as long as i keep hittin the primer.Runs for about 10 sec after priming. Is it possible to pm on this site? Thanks

Thanks to Ray Benson for sending me some info on mac33a in which i found out that i have a 33b or super 33 or a 39 as there wasnt any nomenclature on engine other than serial number.Found out i need a gasket between carb body and carb cover which i kinda figged but wasnt sure. Not sure at this point if this will cure problem. Also found out that carb needle starting point is 3 turns not 1.5 turns as in most engines. And being a new member i figged out how to pm or start a conversation. If people think this saw is pig rich in oil i have a homelite thats 10:1 on mixture!Highest mix ive ever seen as most are 16:1 or lower.

Wondering if anyone has part number for carb cover for 33b as theres a diff between some of the models.I have part numbers for 33 but not for 33b.I'll include a pic of what i need.I can make a gasket but its time consuming. The bottom pic is what i need.Top pic just shows the diff.Talked to a guy that has microfice but hes showing gaskets are the same.Ok for some reason pics got mixed up .I need #12 not #14 in pics

Well decided to make my own gasket.Yeah ive done the hammer tap deal but alumn is pretty soft so i decided to try a diff method.I painted gasket surface and while still wet made impression on gasket material, worked great!
