Try talking to @chipper1 he usually has some clean used ones available. Wish I was into saws and wood heat when you could get 7900s for $550 brand new.

No joke. Now they cost about the same as a 461.

My factory red top was $590 out the door with a 20” b/c when I bought it.

Now they are way more costly, and you have to then go spend extra to get the red covers shipped over from Europe on top of the cost of the saw. Progress? Hardly!

Good morning user, welcome to AS.
The 7910 is a great saw, as far as it beating your buddies 460, in wood under 18" it probably won't. Both saws will cut just below whatever rpm they are tuned at in smaller wood, so the tune and the chain are the main things that will change how they cut. I prefer the dolmar over the 460 though as it has better antivibe, its way smoother, and the top handle is angled like a husky's.

Another question - I've been seeing videos of people porting their saws.

How much would I gain in sending out my 51cc Sachs Dolmar to be ported and have the compression raised (and timing changed? )

Does this compromise reliability and longevity ?
