New paid 349.00 at Home Depot. Upgrades include 20" Stihl bar (big mount) new Stihl chain, modded muffler, carb limits removed, cylinder base gasket removed for bump in compression. Tuned right now for break-in. After 5 tanks of fuel it can be tuned for your preference. It has chrome-molly adapters for the Stihl bar and can be easily removed if you want to put on a Oregon/Echo bar. This is a 5occ. saw that was a turd until I did the mods, now it's a 9 lb powerhouse. Very impressive. Don't worry about the worthless Echo 5 year warranty, I will give a 1 year parts and labor. Also It's been reversed engineered to days gone by when a user could tune and fix their saws in the woods. So you're covered. It's a full cast case with removable cylinder motor, so you're getting a 20+ year use and then it's re-buildable. Is it better than a 500 dollar Sthil or Husky? Well the homeowner saws, Definitely! At least this one is made in Japan, so your confident that the manufacturing is spot-on. If you're looking for a 50cc machine that will not wear you out and has professional saw manufacturing and qualities plus has 200 buck worth of mods for less than 500 bucks and it's new. I'd give this a go. Especially if you are the type of person who wants to get the very most out of their money. The price is firm, just like the store, saves any misunderstanding. You can make an offer but it probably won't be answered. Paypal for good dudes and friends and family. Will ship upon cleared payment. Peace and Love brothers20170316_064328.jpg 20170316_064328.jpg

Well, I was originally going to return it to Home Depot and get the 349 back, but the goof ball couldn't find the receipt. So I definitely couldn't sell it to someone the way it was, there is no way I would have paid 349 for it, but I had to take it in trade in and I thought I was going to return it. I just sold a 450 Husky and it was 389.00 and new. Have you seen the amount of plastic in those? I couldn't in good faith recommend that over this all-alloy Echo , there is no way the plastic engine is going to hold up as well. Performance wise, ya out of the box the Husky smokes the Echo, after the mods, different story. Does anyone know exactly where the 450 is made? I couldn't find anywhere on the saw where it said? Seems to me a manufacturer would be beating on their chest and saying all over if it was made anywhere else but Ching-chong land..
.just sayin

I think the little 490 can be a neat saw. Guys have had a hard time selling them fast but still a neat saw. Glwys make someone a great firewood saw.

I am not sure where the 450 is made in will check tomorrow but I have seen them take a lot more abuse then I would ever think they cloud.

I don't see why not. As compared to any homeowner saws, I see better end result. Whether that translates into someone buying it, we shall see. I have enough firewoo

Well if I were in the market for a sub 500 dollar saw , I'd be all over it...you can't get even close to the same manufacturing quality from H or S unless you spend over 700. Powerhead with both tanks full. 11.6 lbs. I'd do 425 pho. 20170323_181809.jpg 20170323_182804.jpg 20170323_181809.jpg

Well it's sure is way better built than the cs400, and this is why it has no power and runs hotter than hell.20170323_183637.jpg 20170323_183654.jpg.
Here's my evidence that I as a tech use to form my opinion/recommendations
Crank on left is out of brand H, homeowner saw, as you notice it's a cast crank and no-name bearings, which means Made in China. Crank on right is out of Echo as you can see it's a forged piece along with the rod, and the bearing is a NSK , and says made in Japan. Look up the cost between the bearings. One is 4 dollars, the other is 17 dollars.

yup I'm not a fan of plastic clam shell saws at all. Only pro saws for me. I'd still have my CS590 if money wasn't tight.

Me either if I have a choice, with the exception of the 2145 with a ported 346 cylinder ;).
The 450 rancher is my favorite non pro (stock) plastic saw .

I'm sure the OP's saw will do a great job as the Japanese make a good product, I've liked all the Suzuki GSXR's and Hondas I've owned

I'm just the messenger, I just started my next project last night and it's a Husky Pro Saw, 3120. Low and behold the crank and rod are both forged pieces and crank has numbers along with a "made in Sweden" mark...the bearings are fine and seals are doing their job so I am not going to split the case, so I am going to be pretty sure that the bearings are good quality and not no--name China crap. I'll try to get a picture of the crank so evr'body can see the markings and the fact that it's forged. When's the last time you were able to stick your finger through a wrist pin hole? On a chainsaw 20170324_121119.jpg
