Looks like a swanky unit, good job installing it.

Where I am we're more into ducted air conditioning, last winter we didn't even put a heater on.

I'd say that'll keep you toasty alright.

Prepare to clear cut Connecticut to keep your place warm. Metal stoves are horrible radiating heat. I have one. My friends cast iron stove is about half my stoves size and it will out burn it with half the amount of wood. Next winter I will have a cast iron stove. Metal stoves look good and are cheap, but that's it. Jotul and Morso makes a great stove.

BTW nice looking stove looks like mine without the brass.

One of my friends has a Jotul, and the other one has a Morso. I have a log cabin in a valley where it gets -20 for a few weeks out of the year. Last winter my wife and kids wanted to leave after the first night, and it was only 10 outside. I want my cabin to be a winter getaway. A place for winter sports.
This past weekend my friends and I went to the cabin to mill some timbers. When it gat dark the temp dropped to 20, and they started the fire. These guys are in their late 40s, but they kept the cabin hot as an old folks home. It seemed like we were adding wood every 2 hours. They were telling me if they had a flame in their stove the size of mine it would run them out of their house.
I learned this weekend there is hope getting my family to the cabin this winter. It's going to cost more.
I have an Osburn, Regal wood stove.

Now that statement is way off in left field. You cant compare a "cheap" steel stove to a quality cast stove. How about is i compare my high efficent 97k BTU, 8-12 hour burn steel stove to a cast iron pot belly stove ? Apples to apples. If your going to compare stoves you need to compare low quality stove to low quality stoves and high quality to high quality. A hardware store $400. steel stove to a $2000. cast stove is just silly. Not to brag but there are very few cast or soapstone stove that can even compete with the steel plate stove i own. I would do some research in all stoves before you decide on putting down $$ on a stove. RoosterBoys Avalon Olympic steel stove & TreeCos Jotul CB600 Firelight are very high quality stoves as well as my Pacific Energy Summit steel plate stove. There all in the upper quality home heating stoves. Stay away from farm stores and hardware stores if your wanting quality and high efficient for your home. All stoves are rated BTUs and not all stove are made for long burn times. All makers ahve different models and the right model for your needs is what your look for.
