IMG_6777.JPG IMG_6778.JPG IMG_6779.JPG IMG_6780.JPG IMG_6781.JPG going to start a new wood puller project for making firewood or logging, not really sure what it's going to be? here is what I have to start with an axle from a f 250 3/4 ton, a wrecker boom that is an A FRAME HOLMS 440 RAMSEY 10,000# 12 VOLT WINCH, 8' long ball coupler hitch. salvaging heavy angle iron an tube for the main frame to mount the boom onto the axle. so far the investment is $450.00... needing a bulkhead for the logs to rest at when winched to the boom(1/4" diamond plate should work) to protect the winch. pictures to come as I gather more junk , scrape to move along(get started)....

more of what you see on a tow truck with a short wheel and no extension of the frame over the backend.. will need to incorporate a bulk head to stop the logs from whipping forward while up an short chained. no arch! the A frame is adjustable by cable manually .

wow that holmes 440 and that 10,000 pound winch shoul get the job done hope you keep us posted

found enough heavy metal on cl for a100.00 bill to do the rest of the build, angle, flat/plate, thick wall pipe an tube to fill the bottom of a f150. best of all its 3/8" thick, with 30+ feet of 2.5"x8" channel close to 1500 pounds worth. time is short to put something together soon. pic's after the snow and sorting !

picked up the 2 main frame beams for the support from the wrecker boom this morning . 2 pieces of 3"x3"x3/16th tube 5 footer's which will be attached to the spring mounts on the axle(minus springs).... probably start putting it together tomorrow as work slows an permits... pic's later tomorrow?

off for the Christmas holidays so figured I would get something started/done... mounted the main frame rails to set the "A FRAME " onto . next will be the cross members 4"x4"x3/8th angle iron locked down with 8= 5/8"th x2.5" #8 bolts... might get the frame on tomorrow after?????? .... ! "MERRY CHRISTMAS" ! everyone.....

not much progress today to show as far as a build, except the 2 cross members are bolted down and welded for extra strength. worked on the front pulley for the lift bushings were shot. had to disassemble the winch wiring as it was corroded from setting out in the elements for a few years an no cover? winch works good with only 25 feet of 1/2" cable. will put 100 feet or so of 1/2 or 9/16 cable for a main line as well as 3 chokers for smaller logs/length's. still need to figure a tongue set up for towing it maybe an adjustable for length coupler or drop pin? oh well? perhaps tomorrow will be the time to set it all together for a finale "put to together". sorry! only 1 pic from today.... one other thought was to cut the axles off so there not connected to the 3rd member ... then using a longer drive shaft as a tongue hitch, connected from the rear end yoke fastened with the same u bolts and u-joint? ???IMG_6807.JPG
