Odd maple bark

I noticed this maple leaving the dump today. Drove right past it a hundred times n never noticed till today. I can't say I have ever seen anything like it. The dump site is an old nursery, could it have been some type of graft? Idk but it seemed worthy of posting. Any thoughts?

Thats some mighty fine photo shop work. Really weird, wouldn't be a graft that high up and the old branch collar right on the line. I don,t haave a clue
