Well, I figure that since your from the Huntington area and your cutting firewood, that means your not cutting pine.

So yeah I figure that the 28" would be givin the ole 700 all she wants and unless you have a line on a bunch of big trees, the 24" would be better suited for it.

Ask yourself, are there really that many big trees around you that you can't get through both sides with a 24"?

If you do run into some you can't get through with the 24 then you have the perfect excuse to start looking for the 80cc or bigger saw to run the big bars.

That is a good point. About the only really big stuff I am gonna find at mom and dads. is some old cottonwoods and I won't drop them for firewood. but if one is down I might cut it up.

While you could expect people to make fun of your Craftsman, I think that they will all have respect for the Mac. It's from back when they made real saws here in the US.

I brought my Pro Mac 850, which is related to your 700, to my GTG last month. Heads turned when I fired it up. After I made a cut with it, even my Husky rep came over and said, "You can just hear that low end power kicking in."

Have fun!

We had a bit of a wood cutting party out at my folks house sunday. And all I can say is wow. The chain isn't even that sharp and it still outcut my crapsman even with its gutted muffler and tuned carb and a fresh chain. I can't wait till I get a fresh chain on the pm700. It was also kinda fun to listen to everyone complain about how loud my crappy old saw was and how it sounded like a dirt bike when I lit it up. They all changed their tunes when the chips started flying though.
