I like the idea of wooden pallets nailed or screwed together to make these. Air nail gun does this in minutes.
Wooden pallets are free on many job sites as they throw them in dumpsters. I know this first hand.
These are what I use. I acquired mine free as damaged. I also cut holes for better air flow
Here are a few sites to locate used as well.

I have been selling wood on pallets for a few years. Here is my link on craigs list: http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/grd/2051071514.html. The problem I have encountered is the wood takes alot longer to season and I dont have the room to leave it out in a pile. I also dont want to cut and split, stack out in open and then palletize. It is just too much handeling of the wood. I thought about leaving the plastic off but then you cannot move the pallet without it falling. I need to find a cheap way of keeping the wood on pallet, being able to move and double stack pallets and also have airflow. I tried the orange construction fence but it is not as stable as strech wrap.

I guess I got lucky

We have about 10 auto plant steel stackable pallets/storage racks we got for free. We just split and stack them up cover each one with a piece of black canvas tarp and drag them with the tractor.
El Cheapo here!
It sure would be nice to have a 50K$$$ processor but if I did I wouldn't need to split wood to keep my "Uncle Scam" happy.

We make containers like that at my place of work. However, I don't think you would want to buy them at new cost. Getting them free or damaged is the way to go. I can't even get them free or damaged at my work. We grind up all bad parts and re-use the plastic for new parts..
