Pawn Shop 044

I found this 044 at my local pawn in rough shape but running for only $140. Brought it home and replaced tank handle, due to the busted and poorly reinforced handle and the JB weld sealing the tank. Replaced recoil starter with a non-busted one and put a new pull cord in it. Carb mount bolts in the donor for 440 were a little longer than the 044, so tore it back down and swapped the bolts over. Got it back together and running, then noticed a nipple for a line on the 440 handle towards the top right, close to the air filter. I don’t recall it on an 044, and can’t account for where it would have led to. Can I just cap off or jb weld the little nipple shut?

Got it back together and running, then noticed a nipple for a line on the 440 handle towards the top right, close to the air filter. I don’t recall it on an 044, and can’t account for where it would have led to. Can I just cap off or jb weld the little nipple shut?

Don't see it in the pictures. Is it under the air filter cover? Fuel tank vent?

I remember buying one from Lone Wolf after he rebuilt it, adding a 30" bar and chain, and selling it for about $500 to a tree service company. That was six years ago and they still use it. Not much paint left on it, but it still runs strong. Three years later they dropped it out of a tree from 40' up, and I had to restore it. Amazing that it's still in service. When I asked why they took it up that high into a big tree, there was no comment.

As Crispexx is showing, likely would be the plug in from the hose from control valve only in the 044C automatic choke models?

Unless you have a cylinder like the one Derrick posted it’s just a part of the moulding, most gas tanks have them but very few actually used that port.
