Chris brought his 850 over today and I got a good look at it. What a monster.

Had it running for a bit but lost spark in it. We are thinking it might be coil related, but I'm sure he will get it sorted out.

It's a very interesting saw.

Mark, The IPL shows the coil wire as a separate part from the coil so I can salvage that. I'm think I'll tear into that C-5 you gave to see if that coil is compatible. I think so. Either that or the 650 (which I'd rather not do.) What do you think I should seal the wire with where it enters the coil?

Proper sealer is di-electric silicone but any RTV sealer will work just as well.You can use just about any points/condenser type of coil that you can make fit the laminate frame. Check your PM.

Had a few hours to work on the P62 this evening, it looks a lot different now,

I took a whole series of picts on this rebuild and will post them starting with the cleaned up parts that are reused and on to the NOS replacement parts.

The new parts, Nos Pioneer rebuild set,

Notice the piston pin, one end is solid, the other is open all the way through, the end is just capped or solid,

Piston installed on rod, clips in.

Next step is to mount the gasket, then install the cylinder;

Notice the magnet holding the washer in place.

Needed a reed block gasket, original had a gap in it,

I told Chris you would have a idea! I wasnt sure what would work with a 3 legged lamination.

That 62 is looking very good.

Trimmed up and installed on the reed block,

Time for a vac test, bolt on the occluders.

Hook up the vac pump;

All is good so on to mounting the flywheel and the module,

Clean the bore of the flywheel and the crank shaft where the flywheel mounts.

Notice the flywheel comes with a spacer for the air gap, factory optional,

After setting the air gap just remove the spacer,

The top handle is broken and I have one on the way, I put it on just to get this saw back together and off the bench;
