575xp = 0.588kw/kg.... you fat peice of #### dry weight 6.8kg

357xp = 0.582kw/kg dry weight 5.5kg

old 346xp = 0.521kw/kg dry weight 4.8kg

and my husky 288's should be about 0.600kw/kg if i get them as good as new

and from tree slingers threads the 385 mods well, getting close to his modded 660.... but will the husky last cutting on the edge?????
i hope tree slinger runs both and gives that husky some hrs to see how it lasts....

anyone with the new 346xp and the 5100 stats

That would have been a good post had you placed it in imperial units, and not that :censored: metric stuff :dizzy:

paper stats and reworld use is two differant things. I don't know the paper specs of the 7900 and 5100, but know they run.

metric is the way of the jedi.......

hehehe

yep paper stats but it gives us cyber nerds a start

do appeciate your real world imput

am looking into a 7900... dont even remotely need it but i think it needs to be had....

in the back of my mind also (collection wise are the 346ne and a sthil 660)

only have huskys atm but am looking to the dark side.....

there all good

just love em....

serg

oh and metric v imperial doesnt matter with the format ive used

bigger kw per kg is better power to weight

660 is 0.062424242 hp/lb better than 460

stats man.... just more stats

I believe cuttinscott posted the paper power/weight ratio of the 7900 not too long ago and it topped the list if i remember right.

Numbers might be close, but the 7900 walks on the 460....hard. The 7900 out cuts the 385 in wood up to 28" or so. I used to have a 046, 460, and 385. I sold them all because the 7900 runs so much better.

the 7900 really is in a class all by itself. The power to weight is unreal.

Very true! On paper, they are very close in HP, but I've run them side-by-side, and there's a big difference. I owned a 460 for a short time. It's not even close to my work saw...the 7900.

addded 7900 to my post

0.728 kw/kg... just under the 660 but a full kg lighter in hand so 2.2 lbs lighter

serg

i know not the total power of the 660, but in a light package, seems to be growing on people...... :)

whats dolmars 9900 going to be like????????????

Good post. I have never run a 7900 or a stock 046/460 for that matter. I find my modded "Slinger" 460 to be a pure beast and will be using the 660 less. My neighbor is bringin' his stock 046 over to try out. I look forward to using a 7900 some day. I was not impressed at all with a stock 385.

Modded work 7900 vs. work 460, what do you think will win? I know the 7900 is pretty hot out of the box but the 440/460 types seem to gain more......reading from builders.

A lot of those weights are not true, the Husky 357xp being the worst case.....

And further calculation on rounded off numbers are always risky, and inaccurate, anyway.....

i guess it wouldnt matter if all the manufactures used the same imagination.........

so i guess we need a thread for each popular saw, guys here that own them can weight them and give bar and chain specs.... get an average maybe???

bar weight or even power head full of fuel and oil

then the buyer has his own bar and chain combo he can use
still a base for comparison

oh mabye just go to the dealer and see for ourselevs???

no 390xps or 357xps or 346xp (new or old)
no 660's

at my dealers :(

yet to find a dolmar dealer......

serg

Arguing power to weight of a modern saw is a crock..... Are all users the same weight/strength /whatever?

It's like the FAA believing everyone weighs 170lb....

I dont notice weight differences till it takes those 2 and 3 pound jumps at a time. Ounces difference WGAF. :hmm3grin2orange: :biggrinbounce2: :hmm3grin2orange:
