Thanks for the info. I will probably end up making a cap myself. Will try to find a bolt with the right thread and cut, weld, grind and file. I am also a knife maker and it seems easy to me if I find the right thread. Much easier than finding a "parts saw".
Any extra info about this saw?

Seems to me I read somewhere that they were copies of German KS 43 Stihls. Here in the states, many of the old two-mans were general copies of early Stihls during the war. That saw you have looks a lot like a Mall 5 or 6 or a single cyl. Stihl from around 35-40. Oil cap from a Stihl or Dolmar might work, or even a Solo.

Dead on Igpoe, the engine and muffler's are a dead ringer for the KS and Roland mentions this in his original post about the " French coffin saw "
