Down in a hole
Hey everyone!
Ready for some dumba$$ newby questions?
So I've got an old(new to me) Jonsered 535 that I'm trying to get going for pruning.
Problem is, I can't keep it running. It will usually start, and generally idles, but the minute I hit the throttle it bogs down and dies.
I've set the Hi and Lo screws to where the manual says they should be. 1 - 1.25 turns off bottom for the Lo, 1 turn off bottom for Hi. I fiddled with them a bit after I set them but...
Everything else seems to be hooked up and in place.

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Welcome, Check the piston for damage by taking the muffler off. Saws with scored pistons will often run as you describe. If the piston is good, it's time to check the fuel system. A clogged fuel filter or inlet screen in carb may let the saw idle but not deliver enough fuel for high speed operation.
