Does anyone have experiance with a PTO chipper. I used one when I worked at a tree farm, but the tractor was tiny. I have a Ford 3930 4wd, and a chipper might be an option. Who makes PTO chippers, I know Vermeer does, but what is the Hp requirments for the 6 and 9" models, and ballpark prices?

They are supposed to work well when properly powered. As a rule of thumb they say you want around 7hp for each of material diameter. I think you can find some info on them at valby sales. they have a website but I can't find my bookmark. Bailey's has a PTO chipper listed in their x-mas catalog, looks like a Morbark to me.

Does anyone have a ballpark idea what the maintenance cost per hour would be on a 6 inch P.T.O. chipper for wear and tear, knife replacement etc.
