Quercus macrocarpa in France?

One of our ND Forest Service personnel was asked to identify a tree that was supposedly brought from France about 100 years ago. It is located near Butte, ND. It looks like a burr oak, which is very common to the state. My question is whether or not this tree could be a burr oak, which came from a tree that was introduced to France from the US at an earlier date than the late 1800's. Is this tree native to France or introduced to anyone's knowledge?
