I want to grind down the nose of a McCulloch mini Mac to make the nose about dime size or quarter size for chainsaw carving. As I don’t really care about the bar if this gets screwed up, has anyone tried this? I have access to a machine shop.

Interesting project. Please post pictures of your progress for others to follow!

Off the top of my head:

- you will have to contour a lot of the bar to get smooth chain flow;

- most bars today are laminated and spot welded together; you may have to grind the new groove through a few welds, and add a few more to replace those.
