Remington Arms SL-5

I restored the SL-5 and was wondering if there is a place where I
can still find and purchase 7/16 chain, a bar and sprocket for this.
If not, are there aftermarket chains (3/8?), bar and sprocket available anywhere?

7/16 pitch? you could probably use a time machine and go back in time for it. Its unobtainium now, unless you're willing to sit there at your PC for months on end watching Ebay auctions for it.
I think that you could, provided you have a rim sproket on the saw, simply put a new 3/8 rim and chain on it, or maybe a 404 would be better, I cant say for sure.

The saw was my grandfathers (1956 purchase date) and I wanted to restore the saw with Remingtom parts if possible...which it seems I can not. Does anyone have source or contact to check to see if I can swap it over to a 3/8 or 404 set up?

What happened to the bar and chain that were on it last? If it's from the 50's, I'll bet it was a hard nose bar that won't care what pitch chain it holds as long as the guage is right.

The bar & sprocket are just shy of worn out. I sharpened the chain for its last time. There are no hash marks in the cutters but they measure shorter than my Stihl hash marks at this time so I assume they are done once they dull out again. The bar is a Remington 24" sprocket nose bar with a ton of end wobble in the sprocket. I really like the saw for what it is...a heavy brute of times gone bye. But what a scream to run!!! It rips and rivals my brothers ms440 in red oak. I would like to keep it going as long as possible. Any help is welcome.

Butch, I don't think you're allowed to provide an income-generating link for yourself like that here unless you're a sponsor.  Others can do it for you on occasion, and I might be tempted to do so, but certainly not until you fix your "page created with Easy Designer".  There are 6 images on that page which I cannot see without jumping through some manual hoops and it's because the links to them are "illegally" formed. There are actually rules to the WWW and the software you used to create the page should have caught this particular error (you should get your money back from them).  The error is that Uniform Resource Identifiers (earlier called Uniform Resource Locators, or URLs) are not valid if they contain any of the few "unsafe" characters, one of which is blank space.

are all invalid.  If you want to use a blank space in your file names (not a good idea), then when you put links to them, you must "escape" (or encode) the "unsafe" characters in the links (for example) thus:

All I see for those 6 images are the broken link icon (I guess in your IE it'd be a red X).

I know, your IE and some of the other latest-generation browsers will attempt (usually successfully) to remedy the situation before they ask the server for the resource, but that's actually incorrect behavior and you should not rely on it when the surest solution is so easy to implement.

The "for sale" forum has people buying and selling all the time. No problem with sponsorship there. Mike makes one post offering to help a fellow member and all of a sudden it's advertising?

As to the other matter of correctness of a web site, I was just trying to give you a hand.&nbsp; There are already authorities (<a href="http://www.w3.org/">http://www.w3.org/</a>) for that.&nbsp; Everyone who creates a web page should validate it with the w3.org validator.&nbsp; Here's the report for the page you linked to: <a href="http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fhometown.aol.com%2Fchainsawworld%2Findex.html&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&ss=1&sp=1&verbose=1">not valid</a>&nbsp; It didn't say anything about the invalid URIs because it's only concerned about the HTML structure.
