A few saw builders have ran the 7900 way past 13,500 rpm just to see if they would break, they held up just fine.

Ah... but one isn't a production run Sure, one saw may run way higher and show no issues... make a 100,000 saws... and have them last 2000 hours each...

Hahahaha, no fear ole boy. They will not only join in I will call upon them to come and stake their claim in the final chapter. Hell we can't have a best seller without them two for sure. The "Leopard" will return to keep the peace and the "Shepherd"(that spelled right Lake,hehe) will draw his flock once again from out the woods to gather around the Prince and the Queen. They tested stock and ported saws, I do agree they probably wouldn't last very long.

Limiters complicate tuning and lead to more blown up saws IMO.
It is a performance issue at all untill you get into race saws.

Speaking of high rpm and longetivity. I had a ported 260 that was pretty trouble free engine wise despite being used by ham fisted employees. The saw would tach at 15,800 and it wasnt lean at this RPM. Talk about a screamer.
Some guy in NY has it now and it still runs great.
