Alrighty, I have decided it is time to rework the saw lineup and trim some fat. I had about 12 saws that I consider personal saws, but many see limited use. I have a start up tree company now and still do a fair share of firewood. I have decided to sell some off to finance a few new ones.
Saws that are staying: 020t, ms200, ms361, 064 with BB kit, 088, 2171, 7900, 390xp.
Saws going out the door (at the moment): 350 with 346 AM top, ms270, 262xp, 064
Now the dilemma, 50cc, 60cc saws and 70cc saws. I generally only use top handle saws, 60cc saws and 70cc saws.
I've decided to buy a new 2153 since I can get them from local dealers for $420 and $450. Gonna run a 3/8" 16" bar.
Now the big dilemma, 60cc saws. I was pretty set on picking up a 562xp, got a quote of $700. But just a few days ago, I got wind of a NOS 361 for right around $600. I love my current 361 and it is a beater saw. Nips the heals of my 262 and just feels good in the hands. I handled a 555 yesterday and it feels great, and the technology advancements have me very excited. But I know I like the 361 and they are very reliable as well. Kinda want both, but I've always been a bargain hunter and buying a new saw is already tough enough. 60cc saws are big enough to buck wood, yet have a totally different feel than a 70cc saw.
For the 70cc saws, I gotta pick between the following. Gonna keep 2 of them to complement my 2171. 70cc saws are our most used saws in firewood and tree work.
2171 (2009 model), 576xp (2009), 046 (in process of total rebuild), 7900 (HD kit), 372xp. Really fond of the 2171's/372's.
The 576 is smooth, but seems to lack a little punch. 7900 is a solid runner, been running it this summer with a 24". 372 is a nice runner as well. Leaning towards the 2171, but every other saw is a dark horse contestant.
So give me your opinion. I've been tossing ideas back and forth and nothing seems like a definite answer.
