G'day everyone from Downunder!

I need to pick your collective brains.... I am a newbie to this site.

I have made (slightly off topic) a radio controlled drag car with a chainsaw engine as the powerplant.

It's a poulan 2500... I think it's around 44cc from measurements.

I had a good mate make me a pipe to basically double the high end RPM, so , it's what we might call a "grenade" engine:D

This engine will probably blow up during a pass, so I need to know what a good replacement might be.

Basically, Im looking for an engine that is:
1. Lightweight
2. PUNCHY!!!!
3. doesn't cost the earth
4. Has good useable torque right through the rev range

have a look

any thoughts??

The car weighs aroung 12kgs. at the moment, and I reckon I might have up to 5HP so far....I'm always looking for more ponies!!:)

thanks in advance,

Dazza

I would look for a Husqvarna 254XP or a 262XP. Very torquey high revving motors and pretty light and compact. They are both older out of production models but there are allot of them around and parts are still available.

or you could go nuts and find a good 5ci saw like a Dolmar 7900.

You have some great craftsmanship in that dragster.
Romeo is on spot with his recommendations.

A 254 or a 262 should not cost ya too much.
Have fun.
