I'm a little farther west DirtDawg, about 40 miles out of Buffalo. GeeVee asked you to define a cord because in NYS, everybody calls a face cord a cord. A real cord is actually about 3 face cords. Good luck with your venture.
 
Throwing it on big piles works best for me., uncovered! Then in fall when you sell most of it. Stack the wet suff that was on the ground up off the ground and let the rain wash it off and let it dry. I measure the wood in my loader bucket when loading it for delivery. You have to keep the handling to a minimum.
 
If I have any dirty wood it gets put into these page wire crates and set under my barn roof to get washed off. It's just wire mesh for under concrete, I set it on a skid and bend over 3 or 4 wires to hold it round. Just unhook and store them flat when empty.
