Silver Maple

I'm cutting up a large silver maple( the crane operator said the main trunk weighed 16,000 lbs) and the wood is streaked & discolored . Is this normal for this kind of tree?

In my experience all the streaked and discolored 16,000 pound Silver Maple trunks are streaked and discolored.:hmm3grin2orange:

Hi Baz, welcome to the site, yes, lots of maples are like that, pretty common, especially on trees that are on thier way out.
