Stihl 017

My Stihl 017 fires after a few pulls with choke set then choke is released and saw starts with just one pull usually. Everything seems to work as it should. The saw seems to have decent power but is a little on the slow side wrapping up and won't idle. If it shuts off it won't restart regardless of whether I have kept it running for 30 seconds or 10 minutes or more. Spark plug is new and gapped properly, saw just started this and was working flawlessly up until then.
Any help or ideas? Thanks in advance!

Take off the muffler and take a peek at the piston before doing too much else.

Also, loosen the gas cap to see if the vent is working...
