Stihl 028 guys need help

Hey

I just got a Stihl 028 AV Super. My model does not have an "Inner side plate" the thin metal plate that goes over the bar studs.

Did all of the 028's have this?

I'm worried because I'm not sure it's oiling enough. Feel like it might be pooling up in that area.

I went through a tank of gas and about a half tank of oil the other day, is that normal?

ETA: After some more research it seems like this part isn't a necessity and it's probably the worm gear.

Not all Stihl saws have these plates but most do. Do you have the IPL for your version of the saw? These plates are also readily available aftermarket. If it is supposed to have one and doesn't it could affect how much oil actually gets to the bar groove.

Some 028's had them and some did not. Some 028's had an adjustable oil pump and some did not. Look and see if yours does and if it is turned wide open. The adjuster will be on the bottom of the saw about in line with the crankshaft. If it has a screw, it only turns like a 1/4 turn. Make sure it is turned all the way to the right.

It does not have an adjustment on the bottom. Nor does it have anywhere for a screw to go into for the inner plate. But there is also a inner plate that just presses on I believe.

The only parts list I could find is this.

The part number 1122 664 1000 looks to be it. No screw.

There is also this part 1122 664 1001 but it has a screw.

That 028 did not come with a guide plate if there is no screw hole for it. The press fit plates came out well after the 028 were discontinued.
