Hi all.

I have a 064AV with an 1122 400 1204 flywheel and faulty 1122 400 1303 Prufrex CDIC ignition coil.
I've ordered a 0000 400 1300 replacement coil.

Are the (1122 400) 1203 and 1204 flywheels essentially the same, apart from the dual slots on the 1203 flywheel?

If so, is it safe to "find" the correct position for a 1204 flywheel and 1300 replacement coil through trial and error? i.e. Without blowing the engine, or myself, to pieces.

Any advice is appreciated.

You can use the dual key 1203 or find a 1122 400 1201 flywheel from an earlier 064 (These are quite easy to find) to use with your new ignition coil.

Forget the 1204 coil.....You'll have some really sore fingers before you ever get it dialed in.

I'm having an issue figuring out an 066. There's no coil in it. Need to buy one. It's got a P+X FW slotted for X. Numbers on the back are P-1122-400-1209 and P+X-1122-400-1214. Not really sure what's going on.

ok e-baytime

Thanks jockeydeuce for the advice. If I'd started trying to match IC to FW I'd have my fingers to the bone as I'm stubborn as a mule :msp_w00t:

z71mike: I'm not that experienced, but from my limited research here goes.
You need the generic ignition coil with part no. 0000 400 1300 with your FW set in the X position on the shaft.

http://www.arboristsite.com/chainsaw/33567.htm According to this link the 1122 400 1314 ignition coil also works.

Not sure, but IC wire length may need extended. Not sure how to do it myself lol. Anyone know?

Good luck

Gentlemen, this is my first post here as I just found this site.
I will share my own results with you in case anyone else is still looking for a combination that works well.
I have a older STIHL 066 with the dual key 'X' or 'P' flywheel. I bought it off ebay not running and discovered it needed a top end.
I noticed that on reassembly of my 066 with the X and P slot options that I had not made a note of the flywheels position after removing for a thorough cleaning.
I went with the X slot after doing a top end rebuild with new cylinder and piston.
I also went ahead and upgraded my coil to the newer style STIHL 1122 400 1314 and made sure to use the Stihl gap tool on the coil and magnet before tightening.
She runs like a real champ and not a miss at all with timing. Very powerful and throttles up quickly.
My older style aluminum flywheel made in japan (non-poly flywheel) part # 1122 400 1216 from the 066 matched this newer coil part # 1122 400 1314
Try this combo and let me know if it works out for you as well! Best of luck

Hi guys. I'm new here and not to sure how all this posting questions thing works. I have just bought a used 064 av (4 weeks ago) cut around 10-15 meters of wood, awesome old saw with heaps of power. Then it stalled while at idle and now won't start !. I'm just after ideas, the guy that I got it off had put a new coil in it only a few months ago, i put a new plug in it and when I pull the cord with the plug out and against the head the first spark is strong then it becomes weak ?, it won't even fire with a splash of fuel in the plug hole. Any suggestions ? Thanks
