Stihl 440 or 044

I recently bought a stihl 440 on eBay and I’ve noticed that is might be a 044 with a 440 badge.. is there any way to tell just from the serial number? I’ll post a photo Thanks!

Is the oil tank black cap screw in or flip cap? What does the cylinder look like? Any Stihl branding on it? If so does it have a decomp valve?

That’s all I got for physical ID really.

Somebody rebuild the top end but it has the old school red choke lever and I believe the serial number on 440s are laser dots? Lol and the old school 044 are stamped.

Okay looked at its again and it also doesn’t have a decompression value! So I believe it is a 044
